Windows Mobile 6.1, the newest version of Microsoft's OS for mobile devices, should have been launched at MWC 2008, at the beginning of February, but the giant software
company postponed its release for unknown reasons.
Now it looks like the new OS will be available starting April the 1st, and Pocket-Lint reports that reliable sources confirmed this. Sure, the date coincides with April Fools Day, but before you think it could all be a joke, you should know that this is also the date when CTIA Wireless 2008 debuts in Las Vegas. And since Microsoft will obviously be there, Windows Mobile 6.1 could indeed be released on the 1st of April.
If this turns out to be true, we can hope that all the handsets announced to run on WM 6.1 will be released earlier than everyone expects. Sony Ericsson's Xperia X1, for example, could even hit the market before the summer, so users who consider buying it should start preparing about 600 – 700 US dollars if they want to be among the first owners of the super-phone.
Windows Mobile 6.1 will not bring major improvements when compared to the 6.0 and 6.0 Professional versions, but it will surely be a welcomed upgrade. The new features of the mobile OS include a friendlier user interface, new homescreen and new fonts, as well as the ability to copy/paste content in Internet Explorer.

NEC Flask Phone
Fuel Cell Power and Transparency....!!!
The handset is apparently named NEC Flask Phone and, at a first glance, it looks like a giant lighter that Bigfoot might really love (if he exists and if he smokes). At a second glance, things seem a bit more serious, as this device is said to pack some sort of a touchscreen that also has the role of a keypad. The phone has a transparent case that allows users to see how much fuel is consumed, thus knowing when to recharge, and it's intended to be a device that perfectly integrates advanced technology and simple but elegant design.
NEC, the Japanese electronics manufacturer, recently unveiled a new concept phone that uses fuel cell as power. While the idea is not new, as Motorola, Samsung and Toshiba also consider implementing this technology into handsets, NEC's fuel cell phone is really something that we haven't seen until now.

Verizon Brings Red, Purple and Pink Phones
Verizon Wireless, the second largest mobile carrier in the US, announced the availability of three of its popular handsets in new colors, probably to start the year with a fresh look but
also for the approaching Valentine's Day, when pretty-colored devices sell like they're offered for free.
The first phone to get a new look is Samsung FlipShot (or SCH-U900), the clamshell that comes with a rotating display, very useful when taking pictures. Its new color is a vivid red one and hides the same nice specs of the original version: 3 Megapixel camera with multi-shots and video recording, GPS (VZ Navigator), EV-DO, Media player, V CAST Music and Video, Mobile Web 2.0, e-mail, Mobile IM and Bluetooth with A2DP. Of course, besides the red version, there's also the classic black Samsung FlipShot, for those who like darker colors. Both versions are available for $149.99.

Asus Officially Annouce It's Nokia E90 Competitor
Asus M930, the smartphone with a full QWERTY keyboard announced last year to be a tough competitor for Nokia's N90 Communicator, is now officially unveiled and should be
commercially available in March 2008.
Leaked specs about the smartphone appeared for the first time back in November 2007, and the official ones that now surfaced are pretty much the same. What doesn't coincide is the nature and power of its processor: while rumors said it's going to be a Marvel PXA27x 520 MHz one, the real processor is a Texas Instruments TI2431 one at 450 MHz, so we have less power than expected.

HTC Touch P3450
HTC Touch comes to challenge the PDA landscape and prove that Pocket PCs can compete with what some would call 'fashion phones'. The main advantages of the device are its stylish design and interface and the innovatory TouchFlo technology which simplifies finger-based operation and tries to make the use of the stylus only a matter of choice.
The HTC Touch is also known under the names P3450 and Elf, the latter suiting it well if we consider its diminutive size. Several operators are offering rebranded versions of the PDA under different names, such as MDA Touch from T-Mobile and XDA Nova from O2. The HTC Touch can be purchased at a price of about $500, or less if bought with a mobile operator contract.
As a PDA that focuses a great deal on design, the HTC Touch follows the latest trend that tries to keep the dimensions to a minimum. Measuring 58 x 99.9 x 13.9 mm, the device is one of the smallest and slimmest Pocket PCs on the market. Its size and shape ensure that the PDA fits comfortably into one's hand. Moreover, its weight of only 112 grams can make the HTC Touch the envy of other regular phones. The Touch has a stylish design, with rounded corners and carefully designed buttons, which make it appealing to those interested in good-looking phones. The activation button placed in the middle of the directional pad glows white when used or when a button is pressed, adding to the stylish look.
Menu and Software
Without a doubt, TouchFlo is the greatest asset of the HTC Touch. The technology improves finger-based operation taking the usability of the device to a whole new level. TouchFlo includes three parts: the HTC Home plugin shown on the Today screen, the HTC Cube which is basically a polished launcher and the finger activated scrolling.
